silent sound (11/5/22)


it’s curious to see how the most seemingly banal photographs snapped at the time can take on a compelling archival significance years later…..


the difference between silence and noise is that silence is always there, always present, never absent, even during cacophony, the canvas upon which noise is etched, scratched, carved, imposed, even when it smothers it within an inch of its molecules noise remains ephemeral, and eventually it dies away or is erased to leave once more the silence where it’s always been all this time, albeit temporarily subsumed… without silence there’d be no sound at all…
