early light seeps around the edges of the curtains, it isn’t like any other light, it has nothing to gain, except itself, it hasn’t even got a name so, perhaps I’ll call it sliplight……

however the war in Ukraine ends, and it is a war, not some fraudulent propaganda ‘special military operation’, no one will have won, nothing will be won, nothing will have been achieved except damage, destruction and fear, this is the nature of war, no winners, just dislocation, not just physical, political or economic, but also psychological, war merely legally sanctions death at any cost, and so, even if Putin gets his way through such single-minded, aggressive and violent means built upon lies, deceit and a dangerously rampant ego that is clearly losing/ lost the plot, the recent desperate and frankly ridiculous flailing, tantrums and comments coming of the Kremlin are evidence of that, he won’t have won either as not even he can keep truth hidden forever, that it’s a distraction from his own failings towards his own country and a way of bolstering his own popularity, again, it’s all about him, which tends to be the way of totalitarian dictatorships… fear, by its nature, eats itself from the inside until there’s nothing left to consume, thus, he lost the moment he set foot in Ukraine and showed his hand at what, in actual fact, a weak leader and commander and human being he is and how his attempts to go down in history as the man who brought back the failed experiment called the ‘USSR’ will end in tears, unfortunately it’ll be through other’s tears, and their blood, and not his as his expression screams, ol’ dead-eyes I back… but, I’m sure you know all this, maybe you care, maybe you don’t, sadly, none of what I write or say will make a jot of difference nor will it help anyone, I’m just pissing in the wind here, but sometimes one needs to write to make sense of the one’s anger, the uselessness, waste, the loss, the fear…. recently I heard someone say, “can’t you see all the good in the world?”… actually, now that you mention it, there are times when I can only answer, “no”……

Inspiring write up Rob.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about war in writing.
Yes all of us writers should burst out our anger, disappointment, disillusion and frustration about war.
The world is not and will not become a better place as long as politicians and heads of state think about their own interest and not about those of their people.
Well done 👍🏼
