a man of constant sparrows, 19/May/17

Tregaron….. what am I to make of it……. a sleepy village in quiet constant chaos……. the village square being a hive of crazy parking , random ambling, a ‘museum‘ of decided curiosity and bemused staring….. and there are benches from which you can perch and watch it all unfold before your very eyes…… and if you’ve ever wondered where all the house sparrows have gone they’ve come here, every last one……… the air is a cacophonous symphony of their sparrowly song as I sit here  becoming a man of constant sparrow…….. but you can always guarantee an excellent coffee here though, and the most moreish of homemade date slices…… two is always better than one…….

kites!
more kites!……..
…. no day in mid-Wales is complete without at least one and by days-end I’d spotted…. wait for it….. wait for it……. 21!….. yes 21!……….. not all at once but it still counts…..

….. then onto more curiosity in the curiously-named abbey ruins of Strata Florida…… which actually come from Ystrad Fflur, the Welsh for, approximately, “plain of flowers”, next to which flows the Afon (river) Fflur…….. and it was here I overheard another visitor to this Cadw (Wales historic monuments trust) historical property proclaim, “it’s a shame they couldn’t have kept more of it standing”……… what!?……. it’s a historic ruins, what were they expecting?………. there’s nowt so strange as folk………. an yet again an excellent coffee can be had there, not I hasten to add served by monks, they’d long since gone the way of time…….

kite!
two kites!………. adds to my daily tally…..

…. tomorrow I wend my winding way home, back up north, and as such the last of my faraway bloggery as once home normal bloggery will be resumed, whatever that may be…… back up north to where ultimately the road runs out and is far too far for walking……
