cats ‘n’ logs, 13th February 2017

I keep seeing a log in the garden as a cat… but it isn’t a cat, it’s a log…… I think…… if it is a cat then it’s been there for days and days and is either extremely patient waiting for some unfortunate vole to blunder by or…. it’s dead……. or, it’s a log…………. I’m in self-imposed quarantine, or as I might see it as hibernation instead, after all it’s bloody cold out there…… still full of flu it seems, and have been since last Tuesday…. lured into a false sense of glee coming into the weekend with all the signs of it going but, nope, relapse… bang!…. still here, still being a son of a virus……… so not surprised I’m seeing things that aren’t things……. not to mention being that we’re living in a past we perceive as the present, that’s confusing enough when you’re well, but when you’re ill, wow, it’s mayhem…….. our consciousness receives information perceived  about a fifth of a second after we actually receive it, making us constantly a fifth of a second behind what is actually now…….. being out of sorts must exacerbate this somewhat, hence logs being cats……… it takes that long for stuff to come into the eyes, over to the brain, process in unconscious, then spat out to the patiently-waiting but seemingly unaware conscious……. having flu I imagine makes this process somewhat more laboured perhaps, being that my conscious feels even more steps disconnected from the outside world than it usually does……. so here I am in my own isolation ward seeing logs as cats and waiting… waiting… waiting… to see if it moves…….
